Tips for Auto Insurance Savings
Before heading out on the road during the winter, make sure your vehicle is completely cleaned off. Snow covering your lights make it difficult for other cars to see your vehicle. Ice and snow blowing off of your vehicle while you drive is a distraction for your driving as well as others following you; make sure your car is ready for the road.
If you feel like your car is sliding or losing traction, put on your flashers just like you would during a heavy rain storm. It notifies vehicles around you to stay clear of your vehicle.
Make sure to stay a few extra car lengths away from the vehicle in front of you during bad weather. It gives you more time to slow down and allows time to get around the other car if they are sliding.
Be sure to signal your turns early. Letting vehicles behind you know your intentions early, allows them time to react to your turn and your slowing down.
Home Tips . . .
If there is a large storm or blizzard warning, be sure to turn your heat up. Your home will be warm longer should you lose power.
Make sure you remember to shovel around your homes filling area. Heating companies appreciate the areas cleared and there is less chance of an unwanted fall. Some heating companies won’t deliver if the areas are not clear.
Be sure to have your chimney inspected, your furnace cleaned and filters replaced. This keeps your burner running better and your air in the house cleaner.
If you aren’t used to shoveling and removing snow, do it in small amounts at a time. Don’t try to shovel your entire driveway at once. Shovel every 4-6″ vs the entire storm at once.
